CSE Credit Union has added an advanced fraud detection system for your Visa credit card. The name of this fraud detection system is Falcon. Falcon works by constantly monitoring your regular spending patterns. To prevent fraud, purchases that fall outside of these patterns are reviewed and sometimes verified with you. As your purchasing patterns change over time, Falcon recognizes these changes and adapts to your new patterns.
Falcon Might Be Calling You
If suspicious charges or transactions outside of your normal spending pattern appear on your card, Falcon will contact you by phone on behalf of CSE Credit Union to verify the charges. To verify your identity, you may be asked to provide personal information such as address, birth date or the last four digits of your social security number. You will NEVER be asked to provide your full social security number, Visa card number, account number, PIN, or 3-digit security code found on the back of the card.
If Falcon is unable to reach you directly, they will leave a message identifying themselves as Visa Falcon Fraud Prevention Service calling to verify a purchase made with your CSE Visa card. To ensure this call is legitimate, Falcon will always provide 1-800-890-5097 as the toll-free call back number. When you call back you will reach an automated system that will prompt you to verify the purchase in question.
Traveling Outside the United States of America?
If you plan to travel and want to avoid reviews of your transactions by the Falcon system, please notify the credit union. We will add that information to the monitoring during the period you are away.
CSE is pleased to introduce PayCard – a new product now available to all CSE members. The PayCard is a prepaid MasterCard debit card. You transfer money onto the PayCard and can then use the card wherever MasterCard is accepted. The card is reloadable; you can deposit money onto it over and over again. It is also safer than using traditional debit cards because it is not linked to your entire share or share draft account.
The PayCard is a great resource for parents of college students. Your college student has the privilege of carrying a card, which offers a sense of financial independence. You retain control of the finances because you determine the amount to load onto the card and can then monitor the spending habits via the internet.
There are a number of additional ways that PayCard may be of value to you. Use it for travel in place of traveler’s checks. Use it for internet shopping when you want to make purchases without using Credit or putting other funds at risk. Or simply use it to segregate money from other household funds.
